Today is the official start of summer and the perfect time to visit Harbor Hills. Our community overlooks Lake Griffin, a 9,200 acre lake. We are situated at the highest elevation in north-central Florida and boast soft rolling hills for our avid golfers and walkers. The view from the clubhouse terrace overlooking the Signature Tenth hole is simply breathtaking and well worth the short drive from The Villages.
Our tennis pro John Natolly is extending a special invitation to Villagers with an entry level tennis/pickleball membership. Full use of our Har-Tru courts are offered for either a seasonal rate or a one-time annual fee. Reminder: a few openings remain for the Harbor Hills Junior Tennis and Golf Academy for the youth summer program, July 25-29th session. Contact John at the Tennis Center – 352-753-9376.
Calling all sponsors of the Harbor Hills’ 5K race benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of Lake and Sumter Counties! Two hundred local participants made last year’s benefit an amazing success. The event raised over $10,000 for the Boys and Girls Club. Our Third annual ‘5K In the Hills’ will be held on September 24th. Please note: Sponsorship deadline is July 15th. Contact Kim Smith at 352-753-7000 for details.
And speaking of charitable events, the Harbor Hills Ladies Charity has exceeded all goals this past season. Over $28,000 was raised with major events including golf tournaments, garage and clothing sales and unique dinners. Congratulations to Becky Hanner, outgoing Ladies Charity President, for her leadership and dedication. The support of countless volunteers, Harbor Hills’ staff and management has been immeasurable in reaching a goal of this magnitude. Welcome new President, Missey Sackett!
Harbor Hills is open to the public seven days a week year-round, so please take a day and see what this remarkable and giving community is all about.

Most amateur golfers aspire to ‘play like the pros’. Jay Starr achieved that elusive goal at Harbor Hills with his recent win on the North Central Amateur Tour (NCAT). Jay is the adult son of Sandy and John Starr of The Village of Briar Meadow.
The North Central Amateur Tour is part of the Senior Amateur Golf Tour sponsored by Golfweek Magazine. Established in 1995, the purpose of the Tour is to provide an opportunity for amateurs to compete in stroke-play golf tournaments in their local area. (Amateurgolftour.net)
Sandy and John Starr have been Villages residents since 2003. Son Jay is a frequent competitor in golf tournaments around his Jacksonville home. The Starrs were excited that Jay was participating in a nearby tournament. ‘We often take our out-of-town visitors to Harbor Hills,’ said Sandy, ‘and were thrilled that the tournament was taking place there.’
Jay’s young son Ryan was just as excited to share in his Dad’s win. He cheered his Dad on and hugged the glass trophy tightly. Five year old Ryan will start golf lessons soon. For all children and grandchildren in the area, Harbor Hills is offering a youth summer program for both tennis and golf for Ages 8-16. The Junior Tennis and Golf Academy has two sessions, June 13th – June 17 or July 25 – July 29, 8:30AM – 12:30PM. The Academy is focused on one-on-one and small group instruction with our Master teaching professionals, John Natolly and Tom Leimberger. For more information, call the Tennis Center (352) 753-9376 or the Golf Shop (352) 753-7711.
Reminder! Sunday, June 19th is Father’s Day. Enjoy a spectacular Father’s Day brunch from 11AM – 3PM. Buffet includes made-to-order omelets, carved prime rib and fabulous desserts. For reservations, call (352) 753-7000. David and I will see you there!
