PLAYERS COMPETE IN SPORTS AT HARBOR HILLS BY NIKKI HOFFMAN

Calling all racquet sports enthusiasts! The competitive spirit is alive and well on the courts of the Harbor Hills Country Club. As the premier tennis facility in the area, USTA league play, tournaments, and charity events are often held here. Short court tennis and pickleball are played on a Har-Tru surface. This high-performance clay material provides the most comfortable playing experience, especially for the knees!

The fifth annual Tennis Doubles Championship, sponsored by the Harbor Hills Racquet Association, is in progress. Round robin matches take place in three divisions: Ladies Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. In April, the top four teams play a sudden-death semifinal. Winners then play for the championship in front of fans cheering from our stadium seating. The trophy cup is presented after each final match. Winners’ names are engraved on a plaque placed in the trophy case at the club.

In Men’s Doubles, Pepe Gutierrez and Chris Delzio are undefeated at 3-0 and appear to be the team to beat. KP Palmer and Debbie Karrel are also undefeated in the Ladies Division at 2-0. In the Mixed Doubles, each team played one match, so three were undefeated at 1-0 and three at 0-1. Playoffs and finals take place in April. Tennis members do not have to reside in Harbor Hills. Come join us and play racquet sports without court fees!

The Harbor Hills Ladies Golf Association is in full swing this year, starting with our Ringer tournament. The tournament was a two-day event played on January 16th  and 18th. The golfers were very competitive. Prizes were awarded for chip-ins and closest to the pin for both days. The four flight winners are: Flight One - Catherine Sendell and Deb Markey. Flight Two - Raula Badavinac and Janet White-Cofer. Flight Three - Linda Reyome and Janice Johnson. Flight Four - Dee Mancuso and Bridget Templeton. Well-played, ladies!
