THE RED AND BLUE TEAM COMPETE IN THE SIDER CUP BY NIKKI HOFFMAN

This is the season of traditions, and Harbor Hills has a few traditions of its own. Harbor Hills' premier golf event, the Sider Cup, was created twenty-nine years ago. Joe Cervoni, President of the HHMGA, explains that the October tournament brings together our golfing community to enjoy the ten-day event. This year, the captain of the Blue team was Bob Kasse. The Red team captain was Larry Coburn. Respective assistant captains were John Nelson and Anthony Mancuso. Ron Nisun did a fantastic job as Tournament Director.

Sixty-eight players participated. The Red team led on Day One by three points. After Day Two, they again led by three points. The singles matches were played on Day Three. The Red team prevailed by six points, winning the cup 38-29. Congratulations to both teams for an exciting finish!

The annual Ladies Red/Blue tournament is an integral part of Sider Cup festivities. The Blue team reclaimed its’ title with a win this year. Becky Hanner, Chairperson and Co-Chair Bille Neese, did a great job organizing this event. Ann Mahoney, President of the LGA, prepared the pairings. Denise Collier and Karen Mannix's table decorations at the luncheon were lovely. A fun day for the ladies!

Happy Birthday today to our own Harbor Hills golfing legend, Les Johnson. At 93 years young, he has shot his age over 1,111 times. He inspires us all. Congratulations to our Harbor Hills club champion, Ravi Velappan. Greg Kasinger won second place. Our Senior club champion is John Flood. Second place went to Harlan Chapin. Well played, Gentlemen. And from our home to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!
