It’s a beautiful Florida day at Harbor Hills. I’m enjoying lunch with Bree Hartlage, Chapter President of the LPGA Amateurs, North Central Florida Chapter and she has it all. Innovation, drive and a love of the game.
Last year, the group formerly known as Executive Women’s Golf Association merged with the LPGA to form the LPGA Amateur Golf Association. National headquarters are located in Daytona Beach, Florida at LPGA International.
In 2016, a chapter in The Villages was formed. Named the North Central Florida Chapter, women golfers in the tri-county area are encouraged to join. The group has multiple leagues in The Villages and over 100 members. As the group grows, more events inclusive of women golfers outside of The Villages, will be created.
Each year, LPGA Amateurs organizes an exciting Championship series that includes qualifying at the local, sectional and ultimately national level. For the next local qualifier and sectional event, Bree and her directors chose Harbor Hills. “The championship course and clubhouse are perfect for our needs. Tom Leimberger, Harbor Hills PGA Professional and staff have been so welcoming and accommodating.” The local Qualifier takes place on May 5th with approximately forty women. The Sectional Qualifier will be held on June 8th with approximately one hundred women.
This is the perfect group for fun and getting to know your neighbors. Membership is open to all skill levels and all levels of play. For those of us who love the game for the fresh air, exercise and social opportunities, this group is ideal. Benefits include free entry into any LPGA sponsored event, a $250 rebate from Yamaha for the purchase of a new golf cart and opportunities to compete with players of similar skill levels.
