If Osso Buco alla Milanese, ribollita or saltimbocca make your mouth water, you might be an Italian foodie. A poll of 27,000 people in 22 countries by the Society of Consumer Research has confirmed what we suspected: Italians are the most passionate people about food and cooking in the world.
The Italian Club is one of more than 25 popular clubs and social groups in Harbor Hills. Club members take enormous pride in their culinary skills and prepare Italian delights for their monthly meetings. Club founders Mary Rio, Louise Pulsone and Marie Lein are delighted. “The Harbor Hills Italian Club celebrates our rich Italian heritage and culture,” Mary explained. Activities include dining at area Italian restaurants, day excursions, extended trips, picnics and parties.
On November 3, the public is invited to the sixth annual Italian Open Golf Tournament in Harbor Hills Country Club. Organizer Joe Pulsone encourages Villagers to participate in and enjoy this special event. The format is a four-person scramble and you can form your own team. Awards and cash prizes will be presented in the Regency room during the dinner that follows. Wine baskets and merchant donations are among the other prizes. The all-you-care-to-eat buffet features Italian classics including chicken parmesan, spaghetti with meat sauce, antipasto and assorted delectable desserts.
The price for golf, dinner and prizes for members is $50 inclusive. Non-member cost is $70 inclusive and dinner-only is $18. A portion of the proceeds will go towards helping local charities. Sign up deadline is October 20. Contact Joe at 352-638-6698 to join the fun and enjoy our unique tournament course and clubhouse.
