Harbor Hills Country Club welcomes 2023 with an extraordinary evening. The theme is “Glam and Glitter” and you are invited! After hors d’oeuvres at 7 P.M., partygoers will enjoy an extravagant dinner in the ballroom at 8:15 P.M. Dash will entertain us with hit songs, making this a very special night. The event is open to the public. Call 352-753-7000 for non-refundable reservations.

The underserved community is on our minds, especially during the holidays. The first of two food drives sponsored by our Harbor Hills Ladies Charity will be held January 27, 28 and 29th. Chairperson Sue Rice and Co-Chair Linda Roark need your help to replenish the shelves of the Christian Food Pantry of Lady Lake, a ministry of North Lake Presbyterian Church. Donations can be dropped off at the Pro Shop. Pickup is available. Contact Sue at hsusanrice@embarqmail.com.

Residents led the effort to provide deployed U.S. military personnel with homemade cookies, a welcome taste of home. The 2022 Treat The Troops drive exceeded our goal with a record number of 145 boxes (8 dozen each) or 13,920 cookies! The “cookie ladies,” Rosann Cochran, Shirle Mabie and Frankie Smith, express their sincere appreciation to everyone who helped. Every dollar and every cookie make a significant difference to our troops.

Take this unique time to rethink our value as friends, partners, parents and grandparents. We have purpose no matter what our age. We are a remarkable and resilient generation. Remember how much we’ve overcome and how our experiences made us strong. Reach out to others who need your kindness. Wishing all my readers the happiest of holidays! And may the true meaning of the season fill your heart and home.
