TENNIS PROGRAM IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, JUNIORS
Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black once said, “When I was 40, my doctor advised me that a man in his 40s shouldn’t play tennis. I heeded his advice carefully and could hardly wait until I reached 50 to start again.” Justice Black echoed the sentiments of many recreational players. We play for exercise, fresh air, some competition but mostly fun!
The Harbor Hills tennis facility is well-known in the state. As the premier tennis facility in the area, USTA league play, tournaments and charity events frequently take place in Harbor Hills. John C. Natolly, USPTA Elite Tennis Professional, is Director of Racquet Sports at Harbor Hills. With obvious pride, John explains that the Harbor Hills racquet sports program has been extremely active for many years. He would know, having been the director for more than 26 years! ‘We have nine tennis and four pickleball courts with well-maintained original Har-Tru (soft) surfaces that provide the most comfortable and best playing experience for our members and guests.’
The Harbor Hills Racquets Association (HHRA) is actively involved in our InterClub Tennis Matches and enjoyed their first “away” tennis match at Golden Ocala Country Club. It was extremely close, at 2 matches won to 3 matches lost (2-3). Gene Armbrister is the current 2019 President, taking over for our past President of three consecutive years, Giac Modica.
Youngsters ages 4 to 18 can get top-notch instruction in seven week sessions of ‘Junior Tennis Stars.’ The program covers proper fundamentals, games and basic drills to encourage a love for the sport. More advanced instruction is available.
Tennis members do not have to reside in Harbor Hills. Memberships are available for non-residents. Members play tennis, short court and pickleball year-round without any costly court fees. Contact John at the Harbor Hills Tennis Pro Shop at 352-753-9376.
