HARBOR HILLS’ FIFTH ANNUAL TENNIS DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP BY NIKKI HOFFMAN

The competitive spirit is alive and well on our first-class tennis courts. Sign up for the Fifth Annual Tennis Doubles Championship, sponsored by the Harbor Hills Racquet Association. The Association is composed of member players, resident players, and seasonal member players of tennis, pickleball, and racquetball. The new Association president is Pepe Gutierrez. Pepe took over from long-time leader Giac Modica on Giac’s retirement as he turned 90!

Round-robin play starts October 1. The three divisions are Ladies' Doubles, Gentlemen’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. All levels of play are welcome. The matches are completed over the six months between October and March. In April, the top four teams play an exciting sudden-death semifinal. Winners then play for the championship in front of fans cheering from our stadium seating. The trophy cup is presented after each final match.

Belated birthday wishes to our friend and neighbor, Ted Drzewiecki. Among his many roles in Harbor Hills, Ted is the Tennis Association Director of Publicity. He will keep us updated on the ongoing matches. Racquet sports members do not have to reside in Harbor Hills. For more information, call 352-753-7000.

Congratulations to the winners of our Labor Day golf tournament! Paul Rivera, Paxton Rivera, Gregg Kasinger, and Steve Moye took first place in the Full Club Member Flight. In the Yellow/Combo Tee Flight, Mike and Linda Reyome and Craig and Karen Robbins were first-place winners. In the Social Member/Guest Flight, Jeff Rose, Lance Krug, Glaten Moss, and “Fray” took first place honors. Congrats to all for a great day of fun!
