HARBOR HILLS GARDEN AND WOMEN’S CLUB HOSTS ERIKA ROBUCK BY NIKKI HOFFMAN

Care to be transported to another time and place? Reading historical fiction may be the answer. Writing historical fiction, however, is a very challenging literary genre. It combines creating an authentic setting, developing characters true to the time period and meticulous research. When the characters are historic as opposed to fictional, they must be consistent with what history tells us about them. Details must be carefully curated because the history is an essential part of the story.National bestselling author Erika Robuck can tell us all about the process. Her exceptional skill gives life to the history through her character development. Robuck’s recent thriller, “The Invisible Woman,” tells the true story of World War II secret agent Virginia Hall.France, 1944. American Virginia Hall became a spy for the Allies. She “traded a safe life for adventure in Europe, and when her beloved second home is thrust into the dark days of war, she leaps in, headfirst.” When the war ended, she was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the first woman and first civilian to receive this honor during World War II.In 2014, Robuck was named Annapolis' Author of the Year. She is the daughter-in-law of Harbor Hills residents Pat and Richard Robuck. “Erika’s love of writing, connection to her characters and precise research attests to her integrity, which I most admire,“ Pat explains. The Harbor Hills Garden and Women’s Club is honored to host Erika Robuck on Friday. She will be introducing her new book “Sisters of Night and Fog.”Erika will be at Barnes & Noble in The Villages on Wednesday at 1PM. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet this skilled and prolific author of historical fiction.
