HARBOR HILLS GOLF: CHAMPIONS, ACES AND IRISH LUCK BY NIKKI HOFFMAN
MIKE & LINDA REYOME
If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough! Like the stunning Irish courses, the Harbor Hills links are exciting to play. The Men's Golf Association hosted its annual Presidents Cup competition last month, featuring four flights competing over the three-day event. Dave DeCoster claimed victory in the first flight, Don Winefordner secured the third flight, and Pat Murdock triumphed in the fourth flight. Mike Reyome won the second flight, earning the title of overall champion.
The Ladies Golf Association wrapped up February with their Member-Member competition. The winners of the two-day, five-flight event were as follows: the First Flight was awarded to Denise Collier and Catherine Sendell; Flight Two was won by Eileen Gordon and Chris Sorenson; Leslie Nisun and Nancy Flood took Flight Three; the Fourth Flight went to Karen Edmiston and Susan Hopkins; and Flight Five was won by Carol Langan and Karen Robbins.
What are the odds of a husband and wife achieving a hole-in-one on the same course on the same day? On March 1st, resident Linda Reyome was playing golf with the ladies at Harbor Hills while her husband Mike was on the course with the guys. On hole number 8, from 117 yards, Linda selected and swung her 6-iron. The ball struck the front of the green and rolled right into the hole! She texted her husband to share the exciting news. Soon after, she received a call from Mike. “Guess what?” he said. “I just got a hole-in-one!” Mike used an 8-iron on hole 13 from 143 yards away. He has been playing for years and had never made a hole-in-one before. The chances of a husband and wife achieving a hole-in-one on the same day are astronomical! This extraordinary event is now part of the legendary history of Harbor Hills.
