GOLF COMPANY PRESIDENT DESIGNS CLUBS FOR THE AVERAGE GOLFER BY NIKKI HOFFMAN

Want to make the game of golf easier and more fun? Joe Redoutey, President of Brodie Golf Manufacturing Company, has the solution. To prove that age is no barrier, 87 year old Redoutey just won the Presidents Cup Tournament at Harbor Hills Country Club.With an engineering degree from the University of Dayton, he settled in Florida in 1968. Joe was one of the original founders and owners of a successful insurance company. He started making golf clubs in his garage as a hobby.In 1972, Joe created a new design for irons with an over the hosel shaft that promotes significantly longer hitting distance. Armed with drawings and prototypes, Joe used his business experience and contacts to market his design. The first sale of his new clubs was to a Japanese trading company for $5 million.Brodie Golf Manufacturing Company was founded in 1992. It is the home of one of the world’s longest-hitting drivers. Joe runs a complete electronic custom club center inside Harbor Hills Country Club. He is the designer, builder and custom fitter. “If your clubs don’t fit right,” he explains, “they won’t hit right.” By designing clubs for the average golfer, Joe strives to make the game of golf more fun, especially for us seniors.Recently, Lady Lake Business Association honored Brodie Golf with an award for the best golf club shop in the area for the 11th year in a row. Brodie Golf was also inducted into the Lady Lake Hall of Fame.Understanding the issues we face as aging golfers, Joe reminds us that golf is most importantly, a game.
