HARBOR HILLS MEMBERS COMPETE IN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Our Swingin 9’ers have been in full swing this season. This group of Harbor Hills women golfers, open to all skill levels, plays nine holes every Tuesday. In addition to golf, social gatherings promote friendships and fun. In June, “practice summer play” begins. No competitive games take place, making it a perfect time for full golf members to join and enjoy the camaraderie. Congratulations to Bridget Templeton, this season’s Overall Low Gross Champion, as well as all the competitors for the Swingin’ 9’ers Club Championship. One of our premier Men’s Golf Association tournaments is the Member/Member Team Match Play. Five flights were fielded in a two-person best-ball format. The five flight winners had a three-hole shootout. The shootout was tied after three holes, and a thrilling chip-off ensued. The winners were Bill Stone and Bill Fagliano from the fourth flight. The first-flight winners were Dave DeCoster and Mike Reyome; the second-flight winners, Frank Altman and Ron Nisun; the third-flight winners were Larry Coburn and Anthony Mancuso; and the fifth-flight winners, Don Fichtler and Mike Cofer. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for making this annual tournament a success.
Harbor Hills Racquet Association President Pepe Gutierrez extends heartfelt congratulations to our club champions in the much-anticipated club championship. Janis DeCoster and Denise Collier captured the Ladies Doubles Club Championship in straight sets. Defending champions KP Palmer and Hank Chipman repeated this season as Mixed Doubles Champs. Defending Men’s Champs Gene Armbrister and Hank Chipman fended off challengers Pepe Gutierrez and Gary Davison. The traveling trophy was presented by Tournament Director Ted Drzewiecki. Congratulations to all participants in these hard-fought and exciting finals!
